These images are originally lino cuts printed on to Ceramic plates. I created a set of two, inspired by the idea of different food trends, particularly the 'clean eating' diets, as it attracted such a dedicated following, as well as such hostility. I wanted to explore the idea of the cycle of how people easily idolise, or demonise. The first plate is a play on eve in the garden of Eden. I wanted to portray a character with similar aesthetics to those of the 'gurus' of the clean eating fad, tempting us into their garden with a healthy clean apple, iPhone tucked into pocket. The second image uses similar imagery in the opposite way. With plates placed behind the character to imitate a halo, the 'guru' is pouring out some healthy anti oxidant cranberry juice, its importance a play on the biblical importance of wine.
